- Jiro Ono

Guitar repairs have to be handled with patience and refinement. Something the current market is sorely lacking. Motherplucker Guitars tends to your guitar repairs with precision and dedication.
Have an idea in mind for your "go to" guitar? We can take any customization you have dreamed up and make it a reality.
Custom guitar building is a journey. It is one that we enjoy embarking on with the customer to find and flesh out YOUR perfect guitar. We are creatively ambitious and technically refined.
Having a custom guitar built is a journey. People don't go to a luthier to get an off-the-shelf Gibson Les Paul or Fender Strat. And as a luthier, I do not strive to repeat other builders accomplishments. We at Motherplucker strive to leave our own mark on the guitar world. Our clients come to us to get a complete custom experience. They come to take an idea that has been swirling around in their minds for years and finally make it a reality; to make something that could never be had from the usual outlets. They are seeking an instrument that will lend itself visually and sonically to their own particular expression.
Embrace your uniqueness. Time is much too short to be living someone else's life.
- Kobi Yamada
The guitar pictured (left) is one such unique expression. Jack, a client of mine, wanted something one of a kind. After seeing examples of furniture with photoluminescent resin filling the natural voids of Pecky Cypress, Jack decided this needed to be done to his bass. My adventurous, creative side was immediately intrigued by the idea and the rest is history. What stood in the end is the first glowing resin filled bass (to my knowledge). A one-of-a-kind bass for Jack to express his musical ideas.
I started building guitars when I was 15 because I wanted a new guitar. It was a transformative time for me. In my exploration, I found that I am a maker more-so than a player. My passion is in creating these tools of expression. I believe our strength as a company resides in our unique ability to take a concept and flesh it out into something completely new. We can move beyond the tired traditions and into something truly unique; something that until we made it, did not yet exist beyond an ephemeral idea in our clients mind.
Doug is my father. He is the balancing force of Motherplucker guitars. He keeps the company grounded and keeps me from going off the rails. Without him, I would probably be making wheel harps, viola da gambas and hurdy gurdys. His style is directly influenced from classics and his patience has allowed Motherplucker guitars to create some wonderfully well crafted instruments.

"What I wanted in an instrument did not exist. It was a hybrid, one-of-a-kind beast and no one but MP guitars could deliver.
"The personal care and attention is truly unique to Motherplucker. Keith took my ideas and designs and turned them into something better than I imagined."
Keith is my go-to guitar tech. No matter what the issue, I bring it to him and get it back playing great.
Geoff's custom, a 6 string bass/harp, codenamed "Boudicca" is getting closer to completion!
